Academic Biography


Nancy Salay received her PhD (Dalhousie University) in the Philosophy of Mind, Language and Logic, but after spending six years working as a computational linguist and ontologist at Cycorp, Inc. — an AI think-tank in Austin, Texas — she changed her focus to the Philosophy of Cognitive Science.  She has publications in computational linguistics, knowledge systems, cognitive science, and philosophy.  Currently in both the Philosophy Department and the School of Computing at Queen’s University, she spends her non-teaching time engaged in the following: writing and thinking about issues in embodied cognition, especially representation and concept development, computation; directing the ESC Research Institute; and, developing and presenting cognitive training workshops.
